Karin J. Rodney-Haapala was born in Washington, D.C. in 1978. She received her BFA in 2013 and MAT in 2014 from the Corcoran College of Art and Design. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Depth Psychology with a Specialization in Jungian and Archetypal studies from Pacifica Graduate Institute in California.Karin identifies as an A/R/Tographer (artist/ researcher/ teacher). 

As a photographer, Karin’s work is inspired by the works of the Abstract Expressionists. She has exhibited photographic works in the U.S. and abroad including shows at the Corcoran Gallery Art in Washington, D.C., The National Veterans Museum of Art in Chicago, Illinois, George Washington Center of Art and Technology in Baltimore, Maryland, and La Fabrica Aurora in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico. Her work and artistic practice have been reviewed in The Professional Artist Magazine, Ebony Magazine, The American Veteran, and formally analyzed and featured at the National Veterans Museum of Art.

Karin is the founder of KRH Arts + Academics LLC and Soul Connection Studio. KRH Arts + Academics is dedicated to the advancement of learning and inquiry with students and clients of all ages. Soul Connection Studio is dedicated to holistic wellness and self-care management with an emphasis on depth psychological investigations. 

In 2015, joined the Visual and Performance Arts Department as an Art Educator at Montgomery College in Takoma Park, Maryland. Karin currently resides in Silver Spring, MD
